Multigrain Yaki Onigiri

Toasty sesame oil with dashi and bonito-flake umami make these grilled onigiri seriously appetizing. Multigrain rice adds extra texture and nutrition, and they taste great cold — ideal for bento.

  • Multigrain riceApprox. 200 g
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Mirin1 tbsp
  • Dashi granules1 tsp
  • Bonito flakes1 packet (2 g)
  • Sesame oil1 tbsp
  • Sesame seedsto taste

Steps

    Mix the rice, soy sauce, mirin, dashi granules, and bonito flakes in a bowl.

    Divide into 2 portions and shape firmly using plastic wrap.
