Easy Bibimbap-Style Onigiri

An easy onigiri with serious flavor: a bibimbap-style mix you can make in minutes. With ground meat and frozen spinach in the fridge, it comes together in no time. Filling enough that one is never quite enough.

Ingredients

for 2 onigiri
  • Cooked rice200 g
  • Ground pork50 g
  • Frozen spinachto taste
  • Yakiniku sauce1 1/2–2 tbsp
  • Gochujang1 tsp
  • Sesame oil1 tsp

Steps

    Heat sesame oil in a pan and stir-fry the ground meat and frozen spinach.

    Once the meat is fully cooked, add the yakiniku sauce and gochujang to season.

    Mix a little yakiniku sauce into the warm rice — this gives the whole onigiri a richer flavor.

    Combine the rice with the cooked filling and shape into your preferred form.

Tips

Frozen spinach can be swapped for whatever you have on hand — carrot, bean sprouts, bell pepper all work.

Adjust the yakiniku sauce to taste. Use more for a sweeter finish, or tweak the gochujang for extra heat.
